"Multiplication Tables
When and When Not to use them."

Now I realize the memory of reciting math tables in elementary school may make you break out in a cold sweat. I know they do for me! The image of having to stand in class and recite my 9 times tables is a pretty horrible one for me. I don't know, to this day, why 9's posed so much of a problem for me - but they did.

The fact is, it doesn't have to be like this for our kids. Tables used to be the tool to teach multiplication, however, they shouldn't be. No area of math should be tought through memorization. A child should fully understand multiplication before moving on the the table format of multiplication. So, if your child is struggling with multiplication, try visiting our multiplication array section first. It may be just what they need!

If your child has mastered the concept of multiplication, then yes, it's now time to print off some multiplication tables.Also consider giving your child a multiplication square to use for quick reference! This is so much faster than a calculator!
