The Ancient & Modern Day Mathematicians
Hall of Fame

Mathematicians are, according to Wikipedia, persons "whose primary area of study and research is the field of mathematics …”

The great mathematicians of our time have given us a wonderful legacy. The expression …”standing on the shoulders of giants," is never more true than in the field of math and science in general.

Introduce your child to these biographies simply as something interesting. Perhaps a curiosity about the mathematicians, could very well encourage an interest in a specific area of math.

These Biographies will be available soon.

George Boole Pythagoras of Samos Blaise Pascal Archimedes of Syracuse Leonhard Euler Georg Cantor Johann Gauss Emmy Noether John Wallis Sir Isaac Newton Jerzy Neyman Bonaventura Francesco Cavalieri René Descartes John von Neumann Niels Bohr Albert Einstein Leonardo Fibonacci Florence Nightingale

If your child should ask you "Why?"

Mathematics is a real, living, ever expanding area of science. The people behind it, our modern day mathematicians are real people, living real lives, currently working at real Universities. They come from every corner of the world, every gender and every background you can imagine.

The most wonderful thing about mathematics is that, it is a language onto itself. Because of this, the communication between mathematicians is always precise. There is no ‘lost in translation.’ This sentiment is clearly stated by one of the great men of maths.

“The Universe is a grand book which cannot be read until one first learns to comprehend the language and become familiar with the characters in which it is composed. It is written in the language of mathematics.” – Galileo
