Crowdsourcing Project October 02, 2015 |
Crowdsourcing ProjectWhen I first started this website, with much inexperience and a lot of naivety, I dreamed of creating a ‘one stop shop’ that would be entirely free of charge for anyone wanting to assist a student in elementary math. So, where am I on this journey? The website has come a long way from its humble beginnings, but there is a lot to do. For me to complete this site to where I originally hoped I could take it, I have to create about 20,000 30,000 more worksheets. The numbers are staggering and seemingly impossible.Impossible for One yes, but not impossible for Many!As I started to think about this, brain storming how I could possibly achieve this, the one thing that I kept coming back to was crowd funding and how it has helped so many. Well, I need people’s talents and efforts not money. As I started to think more about it, I could see how it could work, but I couldn’t find a method to receive these worksheets, if people made them. So I went and built what I needed - you can check it out at K6Math.com If only 10 of you make and upload a worksheet then forward the event details to your friends, where 10 people respond, it would only take 5 repeats of this process to create more than 100,000 worksheets. The World isn't Perfect!I know the world doesn't work this perfectly - but in my experience - people surprise people every day.So, are you ready to get involved and to make a difference? If you are it's as simple as 1, 2, 3. 1: Make a worksheet. 2: Upload the worksheet. 3: Invite your friends to do the same. Let's see where we can take this together! And, thank you for taking the time to read this. Until the next time, Niamh |
